This scenario is a modified version of John Bendel's CONVOY1. I have tried
to make it a little more challenging for the experienced player.

Do not try and play the Soviet side...there are no orders for the computer
to play NATO!!! It is my belief that the AI is simply not up to the job.
If a side has enough assets to make it challenging for a strong player then
if the player switched sides it would be totally unbalanced.

There are several differences in this scenario. The most obvious is that
NATO has fewer and inferior forces. Also the victory conditions for NATO
have been made tougher (now must destroy a base). There are other
differences that will become apparent.

The key to winning is to make the correct decisions early, avoid the loss
of units (you don't have many!) and keep the victory conditions in mind at
all times.

I hope you enjoy this scenario and I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks, Gerry Doris

NATO ORDERS:

Commander, losses on both sides in the war in Europe have been
extraordinary. We must have the majority of the troop ships
in your convoy safely docked in Narvik in no more than 4 days I
know that this is very little time but if those troops arrive any
later the Soviets will have broken through.

Since we have provided you with all Europe's remaining airpower
it is also mandatory that you totally destroy at least one of
their remaining two bases if we are to be successful.

You don't need to fear for the safety of Narvik. Although we
would be powerless to stop them the Soviets appear to want it
undamaged for their future attack on Iceland. However, you can
expect that they will attack your convoy with all available
forces. Your bases may also be attacked to strip your air
support.

We have intercepted orders to all subs to search and destroy your
convoy as their top priority. You can expect to be attacked by
both diesel and nuclear attack subs. The good news is that all
their boomers have been pulled back north of Murmansk. Our
intelligence also reports that remaining Soviet surface units are
either in port undergoing repairs or are protecting their
boomers.

We have learned that they have brought together a large number of
Backfire bombers that will be vectored to your convoy as soon as
it can be detected. These planes and the subs will be your major
threat.

The Soviets are desperate to stop you. A nuclear release cannot
be ruled out.

I'm sorry that I can't provide you with additional units but you
have everything we can spare. Our future is in your hands.
Fight well and deploy your forces wisely. Waste nothing. The
loss of only a few units may mean your defeat.
